Kent & Sussex Lawns are always looking to improve our lawn care methods and to try to cut down on use of chemicals wherever possible. We have recently been introducing bio stimulants to our product use.
These are naturally occurring substances and minerals that greatly improve the grass ability to intake nutrients to promote cellular growth and stimulate the plants own defences against attack from pathogens and diseases whilst also improving colour and vigour.
They will also enhance the soil structure and promote beneficial micro organisms within the soil to help fight disease.
They therefore have many positive benefits and are particularly helpful after periods of drought or frost.
Looking forward this could reduce the need for the use of weed control chemicals and synthetic fertilisers at a time when it is becoming increasingly important to do all we can to protect our environment.

Have you prepared your lawns for the Winter?

Don’t forget that lawns need attention too.We take time to store and wrap tender plants but this cannot be done for our lawns. It is therefore important that we do what we can to prepare them for the coming year.

Kent and Sussex Lawns recommend aerations during November and December to ensure that the ground is able to cope with whatever the Winter weather has in store.

It is also a good time to treat mossy areas to avoid it spreading through the colder months. If you are still cutting your lawns…remember to raise the height of the cut to protect the grass from frost.

Have you cleared the leaves from the lawn? This is very beneficial to the health of the grass not to mention good exercise!!

Once all these jobs are done you can settle back and wait for the warmer weather and a lovely green lawn next year.
